The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, has urged 144 newly promoted officers to uphold discipline and respect human rights while performing duties.
Fayoade made the charge in a statement issued yesterday in Lagos by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Gbenga Afolayan.
He said the officers, recently promoted from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police II (ASP II), were decorated with their new ranks yesterday at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan.
Fayoade described their promotion as a well-deserved reward for dedication, hard work, and professionalism.
He noted that the new rank came with greater responsibility and urged the officers to demonstrate a renewed commitment to service.
The AIG stressed the importance of discipline, adherence to the rule of law, and respect for human rights, noting that community-oriented policing remained central to effective law enforcement.
He charged the officers to see their promotion as a call to sustained efforts toward ensuring the safety and security of lives and property within their areas of responsibility.
The police boss also commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission for their commitment to motivating officers through timely promotions.
According to him, such gestures serve as morale boosters and contribute to improved service delivery across the Nigeria Police Force.
