President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, alongside other key party leaders, into a new All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution, and Mobilisation, as the ruling party intensifies efforts to strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Lagos. According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the body is composed of serving governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other influential stakeholders of the party.

Governor Mai Mala Buni was appointed chairman of the committee, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, will serve as member and secretary.

Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; as well as Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).

Also appointed are Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna and Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Buni expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence placed in the committee members, pledging that the assignment would be handled with diligence and a deep sense of responsibility.

He said the committee would engage in broad consultations and strategic engagements to develop a comprehensive and inclusive framework for resolving disputes and mobilising party structures nationwide.

“We shall ensure that all stakeholders, especially aggrieved parties, have a sense of belonging and inclusion, with renewed hope in the party,” Buni said, adding that proactive measures would be adopted to anticipate and address potential conflicts.

He also urged members not to allow personal interests to overshadow the collective goals of the APC.

The committee’s inauguration followed President Tinubu’s call for unity at the APC’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 in Abuja, where he reminded party leaders that the APC was founded on progressive ideals, tolerance and accommodation, which he described as essential to sustaining democracy and party resilience.
