A group of armed Nigerian Air Force personnel stormed the Ikeja Electric office in Lagos on Thursday following the disconnection of power supply to their base over unpaid electricity bills.

The incident, which occurred at Ikeja Electric’s Ago Palace Way branch in Okota, Isolo, was captured in viral footage showing uniformed Air Force personnel wielding weapons bought to fight off insecurity at Ikeja Electirc officials.

Some staff of the electricity distribution company were alleged to kneel while Arise News Television reported that a senior executive was put in the trunk of a vehicle.

According to sources, Ikeja Electric cut off power to the Air Force base in Ikeja two weeks ago due to an outstanding debt running into millions of naira. The Air Force reportedly had an agreement to pay N60 million monthly for 10–12 hours of electricity supply per day. However, while military officials claim they have been meeting their financial obligations, Ikeja Electric insists that significant debts remain unpaid
