The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against violent crime, arresting six suspects linked to kidnapping and armed robbery in Doma Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, in a statement on Sunday, said operatives, acting on credible intelligence, raided a notorious hideout in Yelwa Ediya and apprehended suspects who confessed to the abduction of a serving councillor on May 26, 2025, as well as a July 19 armed robbery in which a Bajaj motorcycle worth N970,000 was stolen.
Recovered items include N100,000 buried in the bush—proceeds from the sale of the stolen motorcycle—and another Bajaj motorcycle.
In a separate operation in Keana LGA, police arrested a 20-year-old suspected armed herder, recovering an AK-47 magazine with six live rounds after an armed confrontation with locals.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, ordered the transfer of all suspects to the State CID for investigation, reaffirming his commitment to make Nasarawa safe and warning criminals that “there will be no hiding place.”
