A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered a 22-year-old Point of Sale (POS) operator, Janet Vincent, to sweep the court premises for 40 days for stealing N250,000.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, sentenced Vincent after she pleaded guilty to stealing.
Emmanuel said the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others.
He warned the convict to desist from committing any crime after serving her punishment.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Leo Chidi, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Oct. 5 at Ungwan Maigero Karji in Kaduna.
Chidi said the convict stole the money that was given to her by her employer, meant for a POS transaction.
He said the offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
