Fatai Okoya, the first child of Nigerian billionaire industrialist Razaq Akanni Okoya, has made an emotional public appeal to his father, asking for forgiveness and reconciliation after more than four decades of separation.
In an open letter addressed to the billionaire, Fatai expressed regret over their estrangement, saying the years spent apart had weighed heavily on his heart.
“More than four decades have passed, and today, I write with a humble heart, putting aside all pride to say: Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me,” he wrote.
Fatai said he had made attempts over the years to reach out and restore their relationship, stressing that despite their differences, Razaq Okoya remained his father and he would always be his first child.
Acknowledging that the lost years could not be recovered, he urged his father to give their relationship another chance, arguing that there was still an opportunity to rebuild their bond.
“Life is precious, time waits for no one, and I do not want us to lose any more opportunities to love, forgive, and reconnect,” he stated.
He clarified that he was not asking for their past to be erased immediately but was seeking an opportunity to heal and rebuild their relationship.
“Dad, please, let love speak louder than the pain of the past. Let forgiveness open a door that has been closed for far too long,” Fatai added.
He concluded the letter with an expression of love and a prayer that God would heal their wounds and help them find their way back to each other.
“Dad, I am truly sorry. My heart is open, my hands are extended, and my hope for reconciliation remains alive. Please, let us begin again,” he wrote.
It was not immediately clear whether Razaq Okoya had publicly responded to the appeal.
