Nigerian singer Zlatan Ibile has sparked conversation online after calling out fans who, in his view, lose their sense of self-worth whenever they encounter celebrities.
The Zanku crooner took to his X page to express his frustration with what he described as undignified behaviour from some fans in the presence of famous people.
Zlatan questioned why some people appear to forget their own worth simply because they are standing in front of a celebrity.
“The way some of y’all look stupid in front of celebrities, I always wish y’all had one in your family. Maybe then you’d understand,” he wrote.
The singer, however, acknowledged that he understood why some fans might behave that way, adding that he could not completely blame them.
“Still, I can’t blame some of y’all,” he added.
Zlatan went on to remind his followers that celebrity status should not make anyone feel inferior or lose their dignity.
“There’s more to life than being famous and making a nuisance of yourself online,” he wrote.
His comments have since generated reactions online, with some social media users agreeing that admiration for celebrities should not come at the expense of personal dignity and self-respect.
