With 27 days to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), Nigeria is promising a memorable and refreshing experience as it prepares to host the prestigious women’s team golf championship for the third time.
Scheduled for November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, the championship will bring together some of Africa’s finest women golfers for a week of competition, cultural exchange and continental camaraderie.
For Nigeria, hosting the AACT goes beyond providing a venue for golf. It is an opportunity to showcase the country’s hospitality, rich cultural heritage, vibrant people and capacity to deliver an international sporting event that leaves a lasting impression on participants and visitors.
From the warmth of Nigerian hospitality to the diversity of its food, culture and traditions, the country is looking to offer visiting teams an experience that extends beyond the fairways and greens. The championship will also provide an opportunity for participants to build friendships, strengthen relationships among African nations and celebrate the growth of women’s golf across the continent.
Nigeria’s previous hosting experiences provide a foundation for the 2026 edition, but the country is determined to make this outing distinctive. Preparations are therefore focused not only on the competition but also on creating a welcoming environment for players, officials and other visitors expected in Abuja.
A key part of this commitment is the rehabilitation of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, which is undergoing extensive improvements ahead of the championship. Chairperson of the Club’s Board of Trustees, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, CFR, has assured that the facility will be ready to host the tournament.
President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, Dr. Lami Ahmed, is coordinating efforts towards a successful championship in collaboration with the Club and other stakeholders.
As the countdown continues, Nigeria is looking forward to welcoming Africa not just to compete, but to experience the country’s hospitality, culture and sporting spirit.
The 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy presents another opportunity for Nigeria to strengthen its standing as a host of international sporting events while contributing to the continued development of women’s golf on the continent.
