“I Had Started Casting Out Demons at 17” — Governor Okpebholo Makes ‘Huge’ Claim About His Spiritual Gift

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has recalled his teenage years, claiming he became involved in spiritual activities and began “casting out demons” when he was about 17 years old.

Okpebholo made the remarks during a church service at The Votage Church, where he spoke about his childhood experiences, spiritual background and the challenges of insecurity and cultism.

Addressing young worshippers, the governor said seeing them in church reminded him of his own experiences as a teenager.

“When I see young ones standing in the presence of God, I remember at 17, 18, I had also started casting out demons,” Okpebholo said.

He said his experiences growing up had given him a personal understanding of some of the challenges confronting young people, particularly insecurity and cult-related activities.

“Fighting insecurity, especially cultism, is not a new thing to me. It is something that has been happening,” he added.

The governor also spoke about the influence of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa on his spiritual background, highlighting the role the renowned Nigerian preacher played in shaping his early religious experiences.

Okpebholo’s remarks have drawn attention to his account of becoming involved in spiritual activities at a young age, as well as his claim that those experiences have informed his understanding of issues affecting young people in Edo State.
