Obi, Kwankwaso Roll Out 59-Member Campaign Machine for 2027

The Obi-Kwankwaso political movement has activated a nationwide campaign structure for the 2027 presidential election, unveiling a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate mobilisation for the joint ticket of Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The council, announced on Thursday, brings together zonal and state coordinators as well as directors responsible for grassroots mobilisation, women’s affairs, strategy, security, legal affairs, information technology, and other campaign operations.

The OK Movement said the structure would drive its campaign down from the national level to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, and ultimately to local government areas, wards, and communities.

John Ughulu, Director-General of the movement, will also serve as Director-General of the campaign council, while National Secretary Saadatu Sani will serve as secretary.

The six geopolitical zones have separate coordinators, with Suleiman Abubakar taking charge of North Central; Hashimu Dungurawa, North West; Amadu Gwambe, North East; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye, South West; Christopher Ighodaro, South South; and El-Shaddai Ikeh, South East.

Ibrahim Jabir was appointed FCT Coordinator, while coordinators were also named for each of the 36 states, giving the movement a formal nationwide organisational structure.

The campaign council includes Sabo Gashua as Director of Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; and Peace Daful, Procurement.

Prof. Charles Nwekeaku will oversee South Eastern Town Hall activities, while Sunmisola Adebayo takes charge of Information Technology.

Kingdom Okere was named Director of Legal Affairs, Abiodun Dabiri will head Strategy and Planning, retired police officer Richard Enemona will oversee Security and Intelligence, while Aisha Abdulrahaman was appointed Director of Administration.

Announcing the appointments, Sani described membership of the council as a call to duty and charged officials to take the political message of Obi and Kwankwaso directly to Nigerians.

She said the council would be expected to combine strategic planning, grassroots mobilisation, effective communication, and coordination as campaigning intensifies ahead of the election.

The movement said its objective was to build support across geographical and social divides rather than concentrate its activities in traditional political strongholds.

Sani also urged members of the council to approach their assignments with discipline, loyalty, and humility, stressing that the effectiveness of the new structure would ultimately depend on its ability to reach voters at the community level.
