‘I Wore Suits, Met Presidents And Worked Closely With Pastor Oyedepo’ — Femi Dapson Reveals Why He Quit Winners Chapel Job

Nigerian music video producer Femi Dapson has opened up about the career decision that saw him leave his job at Winners Chapel, where he worked closely with the church’s leadership, to pursue new opportunities in Lagos.

Dapson revealed that he had already attained a relatively high level in his career at the church despite not having a university degree. He said he enjoyed the privileges that came with the position, including wearing suits and ties, meeting presidents and working closely with Bishop David Oyedepo.

However, despite being comfortable in his role, Dapson said he began to feel that he was limiting himself and decided to leave in search of greater opportunities and financial growth.

According to him, relocating to Lagos meant starting almost from scratch. He recalled taking up a cleaning job before eventually applying for a position at a company where he competed with candidates who held university degrees.

Dapson said he relied on his experience and ability to communicate his ideas during the interview rather than allowing the absence of a degree to define his capabilities.

“I showed them dreams and they were so excited. I was telling them, ‘See, I’ll make your life easy. This is what I was doing in Winners,’” he recalled.

His ability to articulate what he could bring to the company reportedly impressed the interviewers, despite his lack of a BSc.

Dapson eventually secured the position as a junior editor, marking another significant step in his transition from church media work to the Nigerian creative industry.
