Pastor Tony Rapu has weighed in on the ongoing conversation surrounding gym wear and modesty, urging Christians to take responsibility for their reactions rather than blaming others for their choices.
Rapu, in a series of remarks on the subject, maintained that a woman’s choice of clothing should not be used to justify a man’s inability to exercise self control.
“We cannot blame others for our own lustful responses. We have a responsibility for our own conduct,” he said.
The pastor further argued that men should not attribute inappropriate thoughts or behaviour to the way women dress.
“A man’s lack of self control is never justified by a woman’s clothing,” Rapu stated.
He also linked personal style and clothing choices to Christian values, urging those who profess to follow Jesus to reflect their faith in their appearance.
“If Jesus is Lord over your life, He ought be Lord over your wardrobe,” he said.
Rapu, however, noted that modesty does not necessarily require people to abandon their personal style, stressing that both can exist together.
“Modesty and style can co exist hand in hand,” he added.
