“Women Like Money” — Bishop Aremu Urges Husbands to Spend on Their Wives

Bishop Thomas Aremu has urged husbands to be generous towards their wives and ensure they are financially supported, particularly when their spouses are also responsible for caring for the children.

Speaking at a conference, the cleric said that women appreciate financial gestures from their husbands and encouraged men with the means to give their wives money and attend to their needs.

“Women like money. So if you have money, spend it on them oh. Are you hearing me? And take care of them… give them money. Is she not taking care of the children? And she will like you,” Aremu said.

The bishop also shared how he handles requests from his own wife, saying he gives her money even when he initially questions the reason for the request.

“If my wife is asking for anything, even though I feel, for what? If she insists, I will give her money,” he said.

According to him, doing so gives him peace of mind and reflects his responsibility towards his wife.

“Number one, to have rest. Number two, she is my wife, she is not everybody else’s wife. And I have the money,” he added.

Aremu further advised husbands not to dismiss their wives’ desires simply because they consider certain purchases unnecessary.

Using jewellery as an example, he said men should not discourage their wives from buying items such as gold if they have the financial means.

“She may see one gold now and say she wants to buy. Don’t say canality. No. The street of heaven is made of gold. So it doesn’t destroy godliness,” he added.

His comments have sparked reactions online, with some Nigerians praising the cleric’s emphasis on financial responsibility within marriage, while others debated whether financial provision should be viewed as a measure of affection between couples.
