Peller’s mother has opened up about her long-standing relationship with Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, revealing how the actress supported her and her children years before social media brought them back into the spotlight.
Speaking in a throwback interview, Peller’s mother recalled that Iyabo was not only a close friend but also someone who regularly looked out for her family.
She said whenever she visited Iyabo and was preparing to return home, the actress would ask her to open her food store and take foodstuffs. Iyabo also gave her clothes and items belonging to her son, Festus, while bringing gifts for Peller and her other children whenever she travelled to London.
According to her, Iyabo enjoyed going out and would often invite her along, but her responsibilities as a mother eventually made it difficult for her to continue.
She recalled that while she was away, she received news that Peller was seriously ill and was advised by those around her to leave theatre and concentrate on raising her children.
“Iyabo Ojo couldn’t reach me, so we lost contact,” she explained, noting that the period was before social media and widespread mobile phone use.
Years later, the two women unexpectedly reunited at a colleague’s ceremony. Peller’s mother said Iyabo was surprised and happy to see her again, while she apologised for disappearing without explanation.
The actress reportedly went a step further by offering to accommodate her and her children, but Peller’s mother declined.
The emotional revelation has taken on added significance following Peller and Jarvis’ wedding celebrations, where Iyabo Ojo was present and seated beside Peller’s mother.
What began as a friendship built around kindness, food, family and support years ago has seemingly come full circle, with the two women reunited at one of the most important moments in Peller’s life.
