Flavour Opens Up About His Sexual Struggle and Unusual Road to Recovery

Nigerian singer Flavour has opened up about a difficult period in his life, revealing that he battled what he described as a masturbation addiction for about two years.

The singer shared the revelation during a TikTok live session with friends, explaining that the habit began after he lost his virginity and later lost contact with the woman involved.

According to Flavour, he turned to masturbation after finding himself without a sexual partner, but what began as an occasional habit eventually became an addiction after a friend introduced him to Mapouka dance videos from Congo.

He said the situation became so severe that he felt ashamed of himself and struggled to interact normally with friends, even during ordinary activities such as watching football.

Flavour also recalled how far the addiction went, saying that at one point, he resorted to using liquid soap.

Seeking a way out, the singer said he initially approached his mother’s pastor, whom he described as a guidance and counselling expert. The pastor reportedly recommended a 21 day fast and prayer, but Flavour said the problem returned only days after completing the exercise.

He later opened up to a bassist he worked with, who attributed the problem to his youth and lack of regular sexual activity. According to Flavour, the bassist eventually took him to a brothel and paid for him to have sex with a woman.

Flavour said he subsequently began spending part of his earnings from playing musical instruments on weekly visits to brothels, which he believes eventually helped him overcome the addiction.
