Six Years After Chadwick Boseman’s Death, His Brothers Ask Court to Remove His Widow as Estate Administrator

A legal battle has reportedly emerged over the estate of late Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, with his brothers, Kevin and Derrick Boseman, petitioning a Los Angeles court to remove his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, as administrator.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the brothers alleged that Ledward has failed to distribute some of Boseman’s remaining estate assets nearly six years after his death.

They also claimed that she has maintained “complete control” over the estate without adequately involving the actor’s parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, who they said are entitled to 25 percent of the estate.

The petition alleged that despite a 2022 court order directing the distribution of certain estate assets, including a $40,000 long-term care policy to Carolyn, the assets have allegedly not been distributed.

The brothers further claimed that the estate includes royalties, SAG-AFTRA residual payments, image and intellectual property rights, real estate, an allegedly undisclosed bank account and other personal property.

They accused Ledward’s alleged lack of transparency of creating “the appearance that she is concealing assets” from the Boseman family and the court.

The petition also reportedly alleged that Boseman’s bank account and IRA remain open, while residual payments dating back to 2020 have not been fully accounted for.

Kevin and Derrick are asking the court to appoint forensic accountant Jason Rubin as the new administrator of the estate.

Boseman died in August 2020 at the age of 43 following a private battle with colon cancer. He reportedly died without a will, just days after marrying Ledward, who has not publicly responded to the allegations.
