2027: Northern Christians Group Demands APC Campaign DG Position

A group, Northern Christian Progressive Group, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to appoint a Northern Christian as Director-General (DG) of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign.
The group’s Secretary, Rev. Hayap Danladi, made the appeal in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Kaduna.
Danladi said the appointment would demonstrate the loyalty and political strength of Northern Christians ahead of the 2027 general election.
He recalled that the APC appointed former Plateau State Governor, Solomon Lalong, as D-G of Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign.
Danladi expressed confidence that Lalong’s experience and widespread support contributed significantly to Tinubu’s electoral victory.
He said appointing another Northern Christian would strengthen the campaign and counter claims of presidential bias by political opponents.
According to him, the move would promote political inclusion, mutual respect and national unity across religious and ethnic divides.
Danladi said Northern Christian politicians would work diligently for Tinubu’s re-election in recognition of his administration’s achievements and reforms.
He urged Nigerians to reject religious intolerance and ethnic divisions while embracing unity and national development.
Danladi said Christians were committed to nation-building and viewed all Nigerians as equal partners regardless of religious differences.
He added that Tinubu’s leadership style reflected fairness, justice and respect for all citizens without discrimination.
Also, the Leader of Northern Christian Youth, Mr Zakaria Gwasshi, commended Tinubu for promoting national unity despite prevailing challenges.
Gwasshi said the administration had recorded progress in tackling insecurity, driving economic development and promoting peaceful coexistence across the country.
He added that religious crises in Bauchi, Kaduna, Plateau and Benue states had reduced without witch-hunts or religious bias under Tinubu’s administration.
