Businesswoman and philanthropist Nana Otedola has revealed that she initially had reservations about her daughter, Temi Otedola, marrying singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi, born Oluwatosin Ajibade.

Speaking on the *How Far?* podcast, Nana explained that her concerns had nothing to do with Mr Eazi’s character but rather the demanding nature of his career and the lifestyle that comes with entertainment and business.

“When I thought they were going to get married, I thought Tosin’s world is a world of entertainment, business and travel and all of that, so I was concerned for Temi,” she said.

Reflecting on her own experience as a parent, Nana said she spent many years holding the home together and hoped her daughters would enjoy a different family dynamic.

“I was the man on the home front for most of my parenting years, and I didn’t think that was the way to do it. I wanted something else for the girls.”

She admitted that she worried Temi would spend long periods alone while her husband travelled for work.

“Because Tosin is good at what he does, and he seems to enjoy it, I thought Temi was going to be home alone a lot with the baby or just at home.”

Despite her concerns, Nana said she chose to approach the conversation carefully, recognising that parenting adult children requires respect for their independence.

“I summoned the courage to bring it up to Temi. When you have adult children, you have to make the adjustment. You have to say the truth in a way that doesn’t sound like, ‘This is what you must do.’”

According to her, Temi quickly reassured her that her fears were unfounded.

“I told her, ‘You’re going to be home a lot,’ and she said, ‘I’m not. Tosin really loves me.’”
