Media personality and entertainer Denrele Edun has sparked conversation online after sharing a deeply personal message while celebrating his 45th birthday.

In a series of posts on Instagram, Denrele reflected on his journey through life, describing his birthday photoshoot as a symbolic “wedding” to himself and the different versions of his identity that have endured through years of criticism and self-discovery.

“The wedding they said would never happen. I didn’t marry a man. I didn’t marry a woman. I married every version of myself,” he wrote.

The media personality explained that the celebration was not about a romantic partner but about embracing the person he has become despite years of being judged for being different.

“45 years ago, a child was born. The world kept trying to tell him who to be. Too loud. Too different. Too much. So he became everything,” he said.

Denrele described himself as “the bride, the groom, and the wedding guest,” adding that the photoshoot represented a renewal of vows with himself.

According to him, every pearl featured on his outfit symbolised individuals who doubted his ability to succeed.

“Every pearl on this outfit represents someone who said I wouldn’t last. We ran out of pearls,” he wrote.

He further noted that the occasion was not merely a birthday celebration but a tribute to resilience, survival, and self-acceptance.

“This isn’t a birthday shoot. It’s a renewal of vows with the only person who never abandoned me. Me,” he added.

The post has generated mixed reactions online, with many fans applauding Denrele’s confidence and authenticity, while others debated the symbolism behind the birthday message.
