Socialite and Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State on New Media, Ese Obire, also known as Xxsisve, has sparked conversations about employment and wages in the oil rich state after claiming that no company currently pays workers salaries of between N400,000 and N500,000 monthly.

Obire made the remarks while criticizing the business environment in the state and calling on wealthy individuals and investors to establish more sustainable, high value companies capable of creating better paying jobs for residents.

According to him, although some entrepreneurs in the state are making efforts to contribute to economic development, many wealthy business owners have focused primarily on ventures such as hotels and similar businesses that largely employ low income workers.

He argued that most of these establishments offer wages around the minimum wage level or even below, leaving many workers struggling to cope with the rising cost of living.

“There is no company in Delta State that pays its staff N400,000 or N500,000 as salary,” he stated.

Obire further lamented the absence of major blue chip companies in the state, noting that the situation has limited employment opportunities for skilled professionals and reduced the chances of workers earning what he described as a living wage.

He appealed to business leaders in the state to invest in industries capable of driving economic growth, creating quality jobs and improving the standard of living for residents.
