Nigeria’s creative industry is set for a major power gathering as the Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, Daren Tang, prepares to visit the country from May 31 to June 3, 2026.

Adding colour to the high-profile visit, renowned entertainment lawyer Rockson Igelige has been tapped by the Federal Government to engage Tang in a special conversation titled, “Making IP Work for Creators in Africa: From Rights Protection to Real Economic Value.”

The event, billed as An Evening with Daren Tang, is expected to attract major players across Nigeria’s booming entertainment and creative sectors, including music, film, media, fashion, and digital content.

Industry stakeholders are already describing the session as a crucial moment for African creators seeking stronger protection for their intellectual property and better economic returns from their talents.

The gathering is scheduled to hold on June 2, 2026, by 4:00 p.m. at the UN House in Abuja, where discussions will focus on how African creatives can transform intellectual property from mere legal rights into real wealth and global opportunities.
