Newly-appointed Head Coach of Nigeria’s U20 men team, Abdu Maikaba, has appointed Ortega Deniran, Abdullahi Biffo and Usman Mohammed as assistants for the new Flying Eagles squad.
A statement by Ademola Olajire, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Director of Communications on Thursday, said Deniran will serve as first assistant, Biffo as second assistant, while Mohammed will handle goalkeepers’ training.
Maikaba, a former Flying Eagles assistant coach, unveiled the list on Thursday ahead of the team’s camping programme scheduled to begin in Abuja on Sunday.
The camp will prepare the Flying Eagles for the WAFU B U20 Boys Championship billed for July. The tournament will determine qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles are seven-time champions of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations and remain one of the continent’s most successful youth teams.
Similarly, newly-appointed U17 boys coach, Eboboritse Uwejamomere, named Olumide Joseph Ajibolade, Mohammed Kalli Kachala and Abdullahi Isa as members of his technical crew.
Ajibolade will serve as first assistant, Kachala as second assistant, while Isa will take charge of goalkeepers’ training for the Golden Eaglets.
The new technical crew is expected to build a competitive squad capable of returning Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup and pursuing a sixth global title.
This year’s WAFU B U17 Boys Championship will hold in September and will serve as qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U17 Cup of Nations.
