Senior pastor Bolaji Idowu has sparked conversations online after sharing his views on infidelity, forgiveness and marriage during a Sunday sermon.
Speaking on cheating in relationships, the cleric stated that although an offended partner may choose to forgive, forgiveness does not automatically mean they are obligated to remain in the marriage.
“The truth is, to cheat in a marriage, always remember that the person has the option to forgive, but forgiveness does not mean they will stay in the marriage. It means that I can also walk away,” he said.
Pastor Bolaji Idowu further addressed how infidelity is sometimes preached about in churches, noting that women are often pressured into staying in marriages despite betrayal. According to him, both legally and spiritually, a partner who has been cheated on still has the right to leave the relationship.
The pastor also warned about the dangerous consequences of infidelity, revealing that he has witnessed cases where cheating led to innocent spouses contracting serious illnesses, including HIV.
