Maverick entertainer and social commentator, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charley Boy or Area Father, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of playing politics without strategy in the unfolding permutations involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In his signature streetwise tone, Charley Boy mocked what he described as a failed grand plan by Atiku to lure Obi into a political trap through the primaries, alleging that the strategy was to outspend and outmanoeuvre him, only for electoral laws to box him in.
But according to the Area Father, the plot collapsed spectacularly.
“Atiku wan play chess, but na ludo e end up with,” he quipped, suggesting that whatever political “jazz” or calculation was at play had already been exposed and neutralised.
He further ridiculed Atiku for overstaying his welcome on the political stage, contrasting him with what he called a “good dancer” who knows when to exit gracefully. In his words, Atiku has instead “glued himself like super glue,” refusing to step aside despite shifting political dynamics.
Charley Boy also took aim at what he framed as Atiku’s disregard for Nigeria’s informal power rotation, saying the former VP appeared unwilling to yield to either northern or southern turns, choosing instead to remain perpetually in contention.
In a more biting jab, he insinuated that Atiku’s moves may have contributed to internal disarray within the PDP, hinting, without evidence, that the former presidential candidate could even be positioning for a return to the APC.
“Plot don cast. Dollar no buy sense,” he declared, dismissing any perceived financial advantage in the political chessboard.
Projecting ahead, Charley Boy suggested that after Obi’s current influence, Kwankwaso could emerge as a dominant force in the North, framing it as an evolving political order that leaves Atiku increasingly sidelined.
