The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has concluded plans to name Abdu Maikaba as the new coach of the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 male team.
He will replace Aliyu Zubairu, who led the team to the second round of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile last year.
Maikaba has previously worked as an assistant coach of the Flying Eagles.
The Kano-born physics graduate has headed various NPFL clubs including Enyimba, Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers.
He led Akwa United to an historic NPFL championship conquest.
He was until recently head coach of Wikki Tourist before he quit the NPFL club due to lack of support from the team management.
A top official further told SCORENigeria another vastly experienced coach, Monday Odigie, will be his first assistant.
Odigie has also been involved with the Golden Eaglets as well as the Flying Eagles previously.
