It has been a dramatic week for media personalities Mayowa Lambe Ekpo and Roby Ekpo, as their marital fallout appears to have fully shifted from emotion to legal warfare. Also, from unconfirmed sources, there have been screenshots of WhatsApp messages between Roby and Mayowa that counter the claims made on the Honest Bunch podcast
In the early hours of 23 April 2026, Mayowa issued a cease-and-desist notice to her ex-husband over statements made during his interview on The Honest Bunch Podcast, demanding ₦100 million in damages over what she described as defamatory remarks.
The notice, which extended beyond Roby to several corners of the online media space, signalled that the battle was no longer just personal, but public. Roby did not stay silent.
In a swift response, he issued a counter legal notice, insisting that the opinions and disclosures shared in the interview stem from his lived experience in their 11-year marriage and that he would not bow to the demands outlined in Mayowa’s notice.
The tension rose further when Roby reportedly warned that any deeper legal escalation could lead to revelations about alleged irregularities tied to Mayowa’s path to United States citizenship.
In all of these, Mayowa’s new Husband, David Ayuba, has come out to assert that, despite the pressure to join in the rift, he owes no one any explanation
