Tiger Woods had two hydrocodone pills in his pocket and appeared “lethargic and slow” with “extremely dilated” pupils after a car crash in Martin County, Florida, last week, according to a police report released Tuesday.
The 50-year-old golfer was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle clipped a truck and rolled. No injuries were reported. Woods passed a breathalyser test but refused a urinalysis. Officers observed him sweating, limping, and stumbling. He told authorities he had taken prescription medication earlier that morning.
Woods said he was looking at his phone while changing radio stations and did not notice the slowing truck. The arrest affidavit noted he was “extremely alert and talkative” with hiccups throughout the investigation. A deputy concluded Woods’ faculties were impaired and he could not safely operate the vehicle.
He spent eight hours in jail, the state minimum, and was released on bail. Charges include property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. Woods, recovering from multiple surgeries including a ruptured Achilles in March 2025, recently returned to competition at the TGL indoor league finals. He has not commented publicly on the arrest, nor has the PGA Tour.
