Football fans have voiced disappointment following the Super Eagles’ 2-2 draw with Jordan national football team in an international friendly in Turkey on Tuesday night.
Speaking after the match, several enthusiasts criticised the team’s lack of cohesion, saying the players failed to perform as a unit despite their superior ranking.
A sports presenter with Magic FM Aba, Tony Ademodi, said the team must improve its attacking efficiency and tactical discipline to avoid costly mistakes. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Alex Iwobi, particularly his reaction to provocation that resulted in a red card.
Ademodi further called on the coaching crew to identify a dependable goalkeeper capable of commanding the defence, citing the influence of former shot-stopper Vincent Enyeama as a benchmark.
Another fan, Uche Adindu, described the result as disappointing, noting that Nigeria, ranked 24th globally, should have overcome Jordan, who sit far lower in the rankings. He added that the team still lacks coordination and creativity in front of goal.
Adindu also questioned the current goalkeeping options, pointing to a conceded penalty involving Francis Uzoho as an example of the team’s vulnerability.
For Amanda Obiukwu, the outcome fell short of expectations, especially after the Super Eagles had taken the lead during the encounter.
Another supporter, Ugochukwu Obasi, said the team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup should serve as a turning point, urging a comprehensive rebuild to secure future success.
