The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State on Saturday conducted peaceful and hitch-free congresses across the 25 local government areas of the state, with party executives emerging through consensus.

The exercise, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, representatives of the APC National Secretariat in Abuja and members of the media, witnessed a strong turnout of party faithful. Observers described the process as orderly and well-coordinated.

State APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, had earlier welcomed members of the party’s National Congress Committee assigned to Delta at the party secretariat in Asaba. He commended the committee for successfully conducting the ward congresses and urged strict adherence to party guidelines during the LGA exercise.

Speaking to journalists after monitoring activities across the three senatorial districts, the committee’s Secretary, Mr. Simon Atigwe, said the team was committed to ensuring a transparent and inclusive process that would foster unity within the party. He expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and the peaceful conduct observed in all the LGAs visited, describing Delta as a special state for the APC due to the calm atmosphere and adequate security arrangements.

Party stakeholders from various LGAs, including the Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, also praised members for the smooth conduct of the congresses. They urged party faithful to remain united and work towards future electoral successes in the state.

In Ika North-East, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, commended the transparent and inclusive nature of the exercise.

Similarly, the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili, described the congress as rancour-free, noting that executives emerged through sincere consensus and affirmation. Government functionaries from Oshimili North LGA, including Mr. Frank Esenwa, Chief Innocent Esewezie, Chief Patrick Ukah and Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, also applauded the peaceful process.

Party leaders expressed optimism that the APC in Delta remains united, cohesive and well-positioned for future electoral contests following the emergence of new executives across the state.
