In a surprising turn from the usual loud actress Doris Ogala and social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, have stepped forward to publicly appeal on behalf of embattled actress Angela Okorie, who is currently remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre following an arrest by the police, after Mercy Johnson filed a complaint.

In a 20-minute video shared on January 29, 2026, VeryDarkMan revealed that he had spent most of the day in conversations with Mercy Johnson, attempting to mediate and plead for leniency on Angela’s behalf. He confirmed that Angela remains in custody, with discussions on her bail conditions ongoing.

While appealing for compassion, he also struck a note of realism, recounting several past instances, backed with video evidence, where Angela allegedly made defamatory statements, suggesting the case may not be resolved swiftly.

Almost simultaneously, Doris Ogala shared a more personal perspective in a six-minute video. She admitted that Angela had previously hurt her with defamatory remarks, but insisted that past grievances should not stand in the way of empathy. Doris also called out the Nollywood community for what she described as a troubling silence at a time when one of their own needs support the most.

Perhaps, amid controversy and conflict, this moment signals a shift, one where voices choose compassion over quietness in the Nollywood industry.
