In one of his now-predictable shirtless Instagram Live performances, because clothes are apparently optional, Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, son of legendary icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti, turned his attention to what he described as overzealous fans of superstar Wizkid.

This was triggered by a comparison made between the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti and music superstar, Wizkid, by a group of people who claim to be Wizkid FC (fans of Wizkid).

During the session, Seun casually reminded viewers that he recently received $120,000 in royalties from his late father’s timeless catalogue, just in case anyone had forgotten that Fela’s legacy is still paying dividends. He went further to suggest that the parents of Wizkid FC members had little to show for themselves, a gap he implied explains why fans latch so tightly onto one successful artiste.

As expected, the comments sent social media into its usual frenzy, with critics accusing the outspoken singer of elitism and unnecessary grandstanding, while supporters insisted, he was simply “speaking facts.”

Seun, we get it. Fela did a remarkable job, and history agrees, please don’t put it in our faces _nau_ .
