Hon. Kabiru Amadu, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Sports, has urged the Super Eagles to remain focused as they advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Amadu made the call following Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in Monday night’s Round of 16 match in Fès, Morocco.
Reacting to the performance, the lawmaker commended the players and technical crew for their discipline and attacking efficiency.
He said “the Super Eagles deserve praise for the level of professionalism and teamwork displayed against Mozambique.”
He said that the team’s depth and versatility were evident, with goals coming from different players and positions.
“The quality in the squad means Nigeria can score from any department, which makes the team difficult for opponents to plan against,” he added.
He, however, cautioned against complacency, stressing that the tournament had reached a critical stage, saying “the job is not done yet. There are still three matches to win before lifting the trophy, players must remain disciplined and fully focused.”
The lawmaker reaffirmed the support of the National Assembly and the Federal Government for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the players and officials.
“We remain fully committed to supporting the team and the NFF as the Super Eagles continue the quest for continental glory,” Amadu said.
