Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm and heartfelt greetings to the people of the state and Nigerians at large, as they usher in the year 2026. He specifically expressed deep gratitude to God for His protection, grace, and sustaining presence over Delta and its people throughout the past year.

In a New Year message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described 2026 as a season of renewed hope, fresh beginnings, and shared responsibility, urging Deltans to reflect on the lessons of the past while embracing the future with optimism, courage, and unity of purpose.

Governor Oborevwori commended the people for their resilience, patience, and sacrifices, noting that the modest but meaningful gains recorded across key sectors of the state were made possible by their peaceful disposition and collective commitment to progress.

He assured citizens that their pains, hopes, and aspirations remained central to his administration’s policies, pledging that in the new year, the government would intensify its focus on good governance, infrastructural renewal, job creation, youth empowerment, improved security, and inclusive economic growth in line with the MORE Agenda.

The governor called on residents to continue to shun violence and embrace peaceful coexistence, stressing that values such as hard work, tolerance, and patriotism were essential for building a stable and prosperous society. He noted that enduring peace remained the strongest foundation for sustainable development, prosperity, and social harmony.

Oborevwori also appealed to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to deepen collaboration with the government, emphasizing that building a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Delta State was a collective responsibility.

While wishing Deltans a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year, the governor expressed confidence in the state’s shared destiny and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-centred policies and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of all residents and firmly positioning Delta State on the path of sustainable growth, hope, and shared prosperity.
