Bandits Kill Five Police Officers, Injure Two Others In Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command has announced that 5 of its officers have been killed, while 2 others were injured when unidentified fulani youths ambushed a patrol team within and around Sabon Sara village via Darazo LGA of the state.
The team compromised of personnel of Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Mobile Police 10PMF Bauchi, Anti-kidnapping unit, AKU, and State Intelligence Department, SID, were attacked by the bandits while on visibility policing patrol to prevent, mitigate and manage farmer-herder conflict in the area.
A statement issued to newsmen by the Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that a certain number of bandits were also neutralized during the incident.
The statement said that upon receiving a report on the occurrence, a team of reinforcement stormed the scene, rescued and evacuated both the injured and the deceased to Darazo General hospital for treatment and deposited the remains at the morgue.
According to the statement, those who lost their lives from the attack were DSP Ahmad Mohammad, SID; ASP Mustapha Mohammad, 10 PMF; Inspector Armahel Yunusa, 10 PMF; Inspector Idris Ahmed, 10 PMF; and Corporal Isah Muazu, 10 PMF, while Inspectors Isah Musa and Yusuf Gambo, both of SID, sustained various degrees of injuries.
The CP, Mr Sani-Omolori Aliyu who conducted on -the-spot assessment at the scene of the incident, commiserated with the bereaved families and assured of the command’s commitment in ensuring that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
“The task has not been an easy one. Still, in line with our constitutional mandate, we shall remain fierce, tireless, and relentless in our commitment to the safety and security of lives and property,” he further assured.
