Doma United continued their impressive start to the 2025/26 NNL season with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Mighty Jet FC at the New Jos Stadium, a win that keeps the club firmly in contention in Conference C.
Returning to Jos as a former Mighty Jet coach, Coach Najib Mabo (Mabo Jr.), now Doma United’s Technical Adviser, spoiled the home side’s party as his team secured their second consecutive win of the campaign.
The decisive moment came in the 44th minute, when former Mighty Jet player Mathew Okpahe Ogonyi struck the only goal of the match. His finish gave Doma United the lead at halftime in what was a tense and emotional encounter.
Speaking after the match, Coach Mabo described the win as a major boost: “Winning Mighty Jet in Jos is a moral boost to us. I love Mighty Jet because that’s where I started, but I’m happy with the victory.”
He praised his players’ discipline and commitment: “I commend the performance of my players for sticking to instructions. This victory won’t make us relax; we must work even harder to maintain our winning mentality.”
Looking ahead to their next fixture, Mabo emphasized the need for full concentration and focus to get something out of theclash.
“We must approach our next match at home with seriousness, focus, and determination to defeat ABS at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.”
The coach also appreciated the warm reception from fans in Jos:
“I got massive support from the home fans. They made banners, flags, and Doma United fliers. I’m grateful for the warm welcome.”
He further commended center referee Habibu Ghali, noting that “the officiating was very fair.”
With the win, Coach Mabo has now led Doma United to two wins in two matches, earning six points—the same as group leaders ABS FC, who sit top only by one goal difference. The two sides will face each other next in a highly anticipated Matchday 3 showdown in Gombe.
