Ebonyi Gov’s Wife Inaugurates Constituency Medical Centre, Others

The Wife of Ebonyi Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, on Monday, inaugurated a medical centre built by the lawmaker, representing Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Mr Eze Nwachukwu, for his constituents.
The ceremony took place during the grand finale of the activities organised to mark Eze’s second anniversary in office and inauguration of his constituency projects.
Nwifuru commended him for his commitment to improving healthcare in his constituency, describing the medical centre as a testament to his people-centered leadership style.
She said that the centre was expected to provide quality healthcare services to his constituents for their overall wellbeing.
She urged the people to make use of the facility, which was equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed by trained healthcare professionals.
Nwifuru further said that Eze’s tenure had been marked by initiatives that touch lives directly, from infrastructure development to educational support, economic empowerment and health as well as community development.
In a remark, Eze said that the facility, christened “Chief Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru Medical Centre”, was initiated to address the prevalence of quackery and to stop high maternal mortality in the area.
The lawmaker also said that the centre, situated at Ewashi-Ngbo Community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, was built to provide quality healthcare for the rural populace and emergency interventions for its constituents.
He said that the facility was furnished with advanced equipment to serve the Ewashi-Ngbo people and Agile, a neighbouring Benue community.
“The facility is named after Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, in honour of her deep concern for the wellbeing of people through her foundation, Better Health for Rural Women and Internally Displaced Persons,” Eze said.
He distributed free drugs, medications, and medical consumables, among others, worth millions of naira to 10 primary health care centres in the area.
The lawmaker, who also unveiled the National Teachers’ Institute Study Centre in Ndiulo-Ngbo, said that 64 students were sponsored through Nigeria Continuing Education and degree programmes.
In a goodwill message, Dr Sabinus Nwibo, Senior Adviser on Primary Health to Gov. Francis Nwifuru, and a stakeholder from the community, Mrs Chinyere Elom, expressed satisfaction with the project.
They also hoped that the facility would serve the neighbouring communities in the area.
The event also featured the launch of the lawmaker’s empowerment initiatives and presentation of a comprehensive account of his two-year stewardship to the constituents.
