The Chairman of the House Committee on North-West Development Commission, Sulaiman Gummi, has said that the commission will drive President Bola Tinubu’s developmental agenda in the region.
Gummi stated this during an inspection tour of offices and facilities donated to the commission’s smooth take off in Kano yesterday.
“The establishment of the North-West Development Commission will bring Tinubu’s developmental agenda closer to the people of the region,” he said.
The committee chairman expressed satisfaction with the renovation work on the facilities, stating that the commission was ready to commence operations once funds were released.
Gummi commended the Kano State Government for donating land for the commission’s permanent site and appreciated private individuals as well as public officials for their contributions.
The Managing Director of the commission, Prof. Abdullahi Maaji, assured that it would utilise the opportunity provided by Tinubu to drive socio-economic development of the region.
According to him, the commission will focus on seven core mandates: Security, agriculture, education, health, infrastructure, energy, and youths and women engagement.
