LG Empowers 300 Women With Skills To Become Employers Of Labour

The Chairman, Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi, Alhaji Maniru Abubakar-Warra, has empowered over 300 women through vocational skills training to promote self-reliance and job creation in the area.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training held at Ngaski yesterday, Abubakar-Warra said the initiative was part of his administration’s commitment to tackling unemployment and poverty in the area.
He said the participants were trained in various trades, including tailoring, catering, soap and pomade making, hairdressing, and other income-generating ventures.
Abubakar-Warra explained that the training was aimed at making beneficiaries not only self-employed but also employers of labour.
“This empowerment programme is designed to equip our people, especially women with sustainable skills.
“We want to see them contribute to the growth of our local economy rather than depending on government or others for survival,” he said.
The chairman urged the beneficiaries to use the knowledge acquired effectively to improve their livelihoods and assist others in their respective communities.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama A’isha Umar, a tailoring trainee, described the training as life-changing.
“Before this training, I had no means of income, but now I can sew clothes and even plan to start my own fashion business,” she said.
Umar appealed for continuous support from the local government to enable them expand their businesses and train others.
