LG Boss Assures To Run Inclusive Govt Development

The Chairman, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Peter Tanko, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to running an inclusive government that would prioritise the true needs of the people.
Tanko made the pledge while presiding over a town hall meeting and citizenship engagement yesterday in Kafanchan.
He said that his administration would accord priority to grassroots development by spreading meaningful projects across all communities.
“I will continue to ensure that the voices of the people shape development priorities, in line with Gov. Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN Agenda,” he stated.
The council boss further reflected on his stewardship over the past nine months, noting that his administration had worked diligently to lay a foundation for inclusive growth.
He highlighted key achievements to include; electrification works in Unguwan Jibrin, Golkofa, and Gada Biyu.
According to him, others are; the renovation of schools at Unguwan Mission, Unguwan Madaki, Unguwan Lamba, Ngaskiya, and Zankan as well as renovation of the council secretariat among others.
“We have also secured employment and admission for 30 of our citizens at the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
“In the same vein, we have given start-up support for nearly 1,000 graduates under Jennifer Etuh Foundation skill acquisition programme among others,” he added.
He thanked the people of Jema’a for their patience, prayers, and partnership, noting that community support has been critical to the progress recorded in less than one year in office.
Earlier, John Samson, the council’s Director of Budget, said the purpose of the meeting was to provide communities with the opportunity to present their documented aspirations and priorities.
Samson also explained that inputs of communities would form an integral part of the local government’s 2026 budget proposal.
The meeting, which brought together, traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups, featured an interactive session where stakeholders freely expressed their views, raised concerns, and offered suggestions on priority projects for 2026.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of a compiled documented community aspirations by the Jema’a Community Development Charter on behalf of the council’s 12 wards to the chairman to guide the LG’s inputs in the budget process.
