Rivers LG Chairman Inaugurates Principal Officials, Pledges Good Governance

Newly sworn-in Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Mr Solomon Abuba, has pledged to discharge the responsibilities of his office with sincerity, humility and dedication.
Abuba made the pledge at the council’s headquarters, Ahoada while swearing-in his vice, Mrs Florence Odukwu.
The chairman also inaugurated the Legislative Assembly with the 13 Councillors who emerged victorious at the recent local government council elections participating to elect their floor functionaries.
Abuba said that good governance is imperative if the country must witness development, peace and security at the grassroots, saying “I will not take for granted the confidence reposed in him during the election.’’
He also charged the councillors to work harmoniously with the executive arm in advancing the collective interest of the people.
Abuba later announced the appointment some key officials for various positions at the council.
They include Mr Elijah Uwhuetu, the Council Secretary, Mr Godstime Egor, Chief of Staff, while Mr Esor Opuwari is the Chief Security Officer.
Others are Mr Precious Dogini, Chief Protocol Officer, Mr Moses Hamilton, Chief Press Secretary and Mr Eze Ake, the Legal Adviser to the Council.
On its part, the Ahoada Legislative Assembly elected Mr Marvin Jonah, the Leader, Mr Uzoma Miller, Deputy Leader and Mr Abali Chigozie emerged as the Chief Whip.
In his acceptance speech, Jonah thanked his colleagues for the opportunity to serve and promised to ensure equal opportunity for members while also promising to prioritise members’ welfare.
