The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has issued a nationwide health advisory following reports of a fresh Ebola virus outbreak in Kassai Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
While confirming that no case of Ebola has been recorded in Nigeria, the agency urged citizens to remain calm but vigilant, stressing that stronger preventive measures have been activated to safeguard the country.
“Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitisers, avoid contact with anyone showing fever, vomiting, or unexplained bleeding, refrain from touching the body fluids of sick persons, stay away from raw or undercooked bush meat, and closely monitor their health if they recently travelled to or from affected areas and seek medical help immediately if symptoms develop.
The centre reaffirmed its commitment to working with regional and global partners to ensure Nigeria remains protected,” the NCDC advised.
