The Wrestling Coach of Lagos State team, Mr Olawale Falana, has said that his team’s mission at the 9th National Youth Games, Asaba is to wrestle the first position from Delta, the current champions.
Falana, stated this in an interview with NAN yesterday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, venue of the youth games in Asaba, Delta.
The game scheduled for official opening today, has witnessed arrival of athletes from all participating states and the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Abuja.
Falana said that the team from Lagos arrived on Wednesday, and were fully prepared for the task ahead.
He said: “We arrived late last night and our accommodation is good. We are many here and I can’t place a number on the athletes but for me, I came with two; a male and female wrestling contestants.
“Lagos will be participating in football, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletes, Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, others except Rugby, Softball and Cricket.
“Last year, we (Lagos) came second, behind Delta state but this time we will tackle Delta from the first position. That is what we were told to come and do, to win.”
NAN reports that the stadium arena has become a business hub with traders and Point of Sales (POS) machine operators seen making brisk sales.
The event which commenced on Aug. 26, will climax on Sept. 7.
