USA, France, Japan, Canada, 27 Other Countries Set For 2025 Lagos International Badminton Classic

Players from no fewer than 31 countries across the globe are to feature in this year’s edition of the 2025 Lagos International Badminton Classic.
Among the participating nations are India, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, France, USA, Canada, Egypt and host Nigeria.
The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), in collaboration with the Badminton World Federation (BWF), has announced that the Lagos International Badminton Classic 2025 will hold from Aug. 27–30.
According to BFN President Francis Orbih, the prestigious event will take place at the Teslim Balogun Indoor Sports Hall, Surulere, Lagos.
The International Badminton Classic (LIBC), sanctioned by BWF, has grown into one of Africa’s premier badminton competitions.
“The LIBC is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s international sports calendar. Beyond competition, it provides athletes global exposure and places Lagos as a continental badminton hub,” Orbih said.
He added: “We are excited to welcome the world once again.”
Over the years, the tournament has offered athletes from across the globe a vital chance to earn ranking points for World Championships and Olympic Games qualification.
This year’s edition is expected to be the most competitive yet, with players from 31 countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas confirmed.

The LIBC continues to strengthen Nigeria’s reputation as host of world-class sporting events, with athletes expected to deliver four days of fast-paced matches filled with skill and strategy.
No fewer than 120 young athletes will feature in this year’s edition, which promises to be highly competitive and exciting.
The tournament enjoys the support of the Lagos State Government, corporate stakeholders, partners, and the Badminton Confederation of Africa.
Over the years, LIBC has reflected a shared commitment to sports development, youth engagement, and projecting Nigeria on the global badminton map.
