Former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has categorically denied media reports linking him to a governorship bid under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as “false and mischievous fabrications” aimed at sowing political discord with his political mentor, President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Ambode rejectef the ADC, reaffirmed his “absolute and unshakable” loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as “leader, mentor, and tireless champion of Nigeria’s progress.”
“My political allegiance has never wavered. I remain fully committed to the APC and to the success of President Tinubu’s administration. I have no reason, no intention, and no plan to rebel or defect,” Ambode said in further rejection of the ADC.
Highlighting key reforms under President Tinubu’s leadership — including pension restructuring, the introduction of a student loan system, youth empowerment initiatives, and improved economic indicators — Ambode praised the President as “a proven achiever delivering tangible results for Nigerians.”
The former governor pledged his full participation in the APC’s 2027 re-election campaign, calling on party members and the public to “ignore distractions and focus on consolidating our gains.”
“Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC. Our mission is victory in 2027, so we can continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians,” Ambode concluded in his disavowal of the ADC and affirmation of loyalty to Tinubu.
