Nigeria’s Beach Volleyball U-18 female team, yesterday defeated Slgeria to advance to the semifinal of the ongoing 2025 CAVB Beach Volleyball U-18 Boys and Girls Continental Championship.
The match played yesterday in Abuja, saw Nigeria defeating Algeria 2-0 to qualify for the FIVB World Championship.
The girls, who were determined to win, defeated their Algerian counterparts 21-13 in the first set and also fought in the second set to win 21-5.
Speaking after the encounter, Head Coach of the team, Jonatahn Thaj attributed the victory over Algeria to experience, adding that his girls were well prepared for the championship.
“They played a good game; they listened to instructions which yielded them a good result. Now our target is to win the semifinal match later in the day,” he said.
In another female quarterfinal match, DR Congo overpowered Morocco I by 2-0 (21-7, 21-16) to advance to the semifinal.
The championship which started on Aug. 1, is expected to end on Aug. 7.
