Myanmar is aiming to export more than 40,000 tonnes of pineapples in the 2025–2026 fiscal year, according to state-owned Myanmar Radio and Television yesterday.
The report noted that Myanmar cultivates pineapples on two types of farms: organic farms and those certified under local Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
The farms use agricultural technologies from China, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.
The main pineapple-growing regions are Shan State and Kachin State, the report added.
While pineapples were traditionally grown for domestic consumption, cultivation had now expanded to support export markets, reflecting a shift in Myanmar’s agricultural priorities.
