The Delta State Government has intensified efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment through a comprehensive sanitation exercise spearheaded by the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA).

The exercise, which commenced at the State Secretariat, covered major roads and junctions across Asaba, including Macdons Eatery, Akpu Junction, NTA Road, Anwai Road, Inter Bau Roundabout, and Camp 74. Sanitation workers, agency personnel, and public sensitisation teams were actively involved in clearing waste and educating residents.

Led by Ms. Ngozi Peter, the DSCTDA media team engaged shop owners and residents, emphasising the importance of adhering to sanitation standards, registering for waste disposal services, and supporting the state’s environmental initiatives.

Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who headed the Environmental Sanitation Unit, noted that the exercise was focused on removing accumulated waste, clearing drainage blockages, and dismantling illegal structures contributing to environmental degradation.

Director General of DSCTDA, Chief Patrick Ukah, warned that defaulters who obstruct the agency’s operations or violate sanitation regulations would face prosecution in mobile courts. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws and ensuring sustainable hygiene practices in the state capital.
