Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Council of the Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau.
A statement issued yesterday and made available to newsmen by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media/Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, said that this followed the submission of the report of the visitation panel set up to assess the state of affairs at the University.
The reconstitution of the council is in line with the administration’s unwavering commitment to repositioning the institution for academic excellence, improved governance and sustainable development.
His excellence has, therefore, appointed a renowned educationist and erudite scholar, Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, as the chairperson of the reconstructed Governing Council.
Professor Abdullahi is expected to bring to her new position her wealth of experience, impeccable academic credentials, and a deep passion for higher education reform.
Other members of the new council are Alhaji Suleiman G. Abdulkadir; Professors Isah Yashi, Sabo Hamma, and Mohammed Babangida; Comfort Audu; representative of the Ministry of Higher Education; as well as representative of the office of the Head of Civil Service, Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed urged the new leadership of the governing council to work in collaboration with the university management and all stakeholders to reposition the university as a center of excellence and innovation in tertiary education.
The Governor congratulated Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi and other appointees of the council on their well deserved appointment and wished them success in the discharge of their assignment.
