A traditional ruler in Rivers State’s Emohua Local Government Area has been shot dead by suspected cult members.
The victim, Chief Dabiri, was killed on Saturday during a meeting with local chiefs at Omuwoka village.
According to eyewitnesses, members of the Iceland cult group, allegedly led by a notorious figure known as Cairo, stormed the venue on motorbikes.
Cairo reportedly shot Chief Dabiri twice at close range before fleeing the scene.
The incident has thrown the community into mourning, with some residents fleeing in fear of further attacks. The killing has deepened concerns over the resurgence of cult-related violence in the area.
Residents are calling for urgent security intervention to prevent further bloodshed and restore peace in the troubled community.
This is not the first incident of cult violence in Obelle, with previous attacks sparking fears of a larger security crisis.
