The Chairman, Yola-North Local Government Area (LGA), of Adamawa State, Alhaji Jibrin Ibrahim, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring more dividends of democracy to citizens and improved security in the area.
Ibrahim made the pledge at a news conference in Yola yesterday to mark his one year in office.
According to him, in just one year, Yola-North has recorded a lot of achievements, including completion of the new LGA Secretariat, completion of PZ Market for fish vendors, and improved healthcare service delivery, among others.
“The Secretariat is fully completed, and we will soon relocate to the new edifice. The PZ Market is now an international market where trailers are loading fish up to Central Africa.
“These have added value to our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the council,” he said.
The council boss listed other projects as renovation of health facilities and provision of drugs, improved security, staff welfare, provision of farm inputs, and scholarship for young persons.
“With these developments as a result of the LG Autonomy, I became the first to pay full furniture allowance to all councillors.
“Official vehicles were also allocated to principal officers of the council,” he said.
Ibrahim further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and good governance.
According to him, the council is also working with security agencies to maintain peace as some of the criminal hideouts have been identified and measures are being put in place to flush them out.
He further called on the people in the area to continue supporting and collaborating with the council in its efforts at ensuring accelerated growth and development.
Ibrahim, therefore, said there were more plans to enhance ways of generating IGR for more dividends of democracy.
